Tree of Life
This was for a Children’s Heart Foundation book. The brief: create a B&W illustration representing "Life and Hope" that children with heart disease can colour in themselves in their hospital room. So I did something full of life with a lot of absurdity, hidden fear, stupid jokes and unexplainable stuff, so the kids could get out of their rather sad environment and make some stories out of the drawing. Everyone liked it a lot; and it got rejected. I’m sure the book went out with plenty of butterflies and rainbows, maybe a pony or two, so the kids would feel secure because it looks like their hospital room.
